First ever footage tonight at SpikeTV

01 Jun 2007, by soul

One of Game Head's editors posted at NeoGAF and said that the upcoming episode will feature footage of The Last Remnant:

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that the first-ever footage of Square-Enix's The Last Remnant will be on Game Head tonight on SpikeTV at 1AM. When we cut the package together we tried to squeeze in every second of the game that we could. Enjoy!

I will try and gain a copy of the video after it's aired.

Update: It seems Game Head messed up and aired Final Fantasy XII cut-scenes instead of The Last Remnant. Uh. Well, here's what Geoff Keighley has to say:

Hey everyone -- Just wanted to jump in here. I have not seen the segment in question. It was produced and provided to us by GameTrailers as part of its GT On Location segment. We are looking into this now and will be just as upset as you are if the wrong footage was used.

Later on he also promised to try and make up for the error:

Yes, I will definitely see if we can air the footage next week for everyone.

Hurray!

The Last Remnant to use SpeedTree

15 May 2007, by soul

Interactive Data Visualization, Inc. has announced that their SpeedTree middleware will be used in Square Enix's upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title The Last Remnant.

SpeedTree delivers highly realistic trees and plants, with adjustable wind effects, user-configurable and seamless LOD transitions, and an included library of hundreds of tree, plant and marine models representing more than 200 core species.

"Since it's able to render not only a large number, but a large variety of trees quickly, SpeedTree has really been an important tool for us in developing The Last Remnant," said Square Enix Chief Artist Kimihiko Miyamae.
